Simonovic (2022) “A comprehensive approach for floodplain mapping through identification of hazard using publicly available data sets over Canada,” Water, 14, 2280, open access https://www.mdpi.com/2073-4441/14/14/2280/pdf). These maps are intended for use at national, provincial, or regional scales and can serve as a guide for identifying areas that require further investigation. Flood Hazard maps for current and future (climate change-affected) conditions, as well as Flood Risk maps, are available at a 1 km resolution. Due to uncertainties in the modeling process and variability in results, these maps serve as a starting point for identifying opportunities to enhance solutions through further exploration.
This new web-based platform offers an advanced tool for assessing flood risk at specific locations, using previously conducted flood hazard mapping. Users can input their addresses to receive a detailed flood risk assessment based on current and projected future climate conditions.
